The current article describes the adaptation of CHO-K1 cells to the suspension growth in commercial serum-free media. The cells were successfully adapted in minibioreactors to four from ten tested media; however, the growth with doubling time less than 24 hours was only observed in two of them. The obtained suspension cells were shown to be transfectable in the serum-free medium.

Key words:  CHO-K1 cells,  serum-free medium,  suspension culturing.
