The biodegradation of resins and asphaltenes by aboriginal soil microflora has been studied under laboratory conditions using model soil systems. The high-molecular heteroatomic components in oil were shown to be non-toxic and exposed to microbiological oxidation. The number of microorganisms increased by 2—4 times and enzymatic activity, by 1,5—2 times during the process. The utilization of resins amounted to 41,5 % during 180 days and that of asphaltenes was equal to 35,0 %. The analysis of biodegradation residuals showed a marked change in the compositions of high-molecular heteroatomic components under the action of soil microflora. The microbial oxidation of resins and asphaltenes occurred primarily with the detachment of the peripheral paraffinic structures, whereas the aromatic nucleus was oxidized less intensely.

Key words:  asphaltenes,  biodestruction,  enzymes,  microorganisms,  resins.
