A spreading of diterpene glycosides (DG) in vegetative and generative organs of a Stevia rebaudiana plant and the dynamics of their contents during onthogenesis have been studied. All the investigated parts of the plant contained DG in sinnlar ratios. In order of decreasing DG contents, the plant organs can be disposed in the following range: leaves, racemes, stems, seeds, roots. The greatest DG amount was characteristic of young actively growing parts of shoots, whereas the lowest content was observed in bottom aging fragments. The higher DG amounts in green parts of the plant testify to the location of the initial stages of their biosynthesis in chloroplasts. A gradual accumulation of DG proceeded in leaves and stems (aerial vegetative organs) during the active vegetative growth up to the beginning of blossoming; at the stage of fructification, their content sharply fell. Unlike this, the maximum DG amount in the underground vegetative organs was observed during the vegetative phase.
