The study was aimed at the optimization of the technology for obtaining and stabilization of the niosomal ofloxacin form. It was established that the optimal composition of the niosomes for the ofloxacin encapsulation contains sorbitan monostearate Span 60, cholesterol, polyethyleneglycol (PEG-115) and dicetyl phosphate in the molar ratio 7:4:0,2:1. The pilot niosome preparations contained unilamellar spherical or oval microvesicles with the average size of 200±50 nm depending on the composition. The efficiency of the ofloxacin inclusion into the pegylated niosomes was equal to 75,0±2,5%. The study of curves of the ofloxacin release during dialysis showed that the process is irregular and after 15 h the niosomes retain 7—9 % of the starting amount of the encapsulated antibiotic. The main quality characteristics of the preparations on the basis of either pegylated or not niosomes were relatively unchanged during storage at (2—8)°C for 3 months (observation time).
Key words: encapsulation, niosomes, ofloxacin.
