Results of field trials of the spent grains and used up diatomite effect on microflora enzymatic activity, phytotoxicity and degree of elimination of hydrocarbons from oil-polluted chernozem soil are represented. It was shown that the brewery wastes in amounts of 10 kg/m2 stimulate the enzymatic activity, reduce the effect of phytotoxicity of crude oil on the chernozem soil, and also accelerate the process of removal of hydrocarbons from it by 9-11% as compared to control during the time of experiment (5 months).
Key words: brewery waste, catalase, hydrocarbons, invertase, phytotoxicity, pollution, remediation, soil, spent grains, used up diatomite.
