A method for cyclic on-line measurement of weighted average cell size was used for the first time to the monitoring of the Lactobacillus plantarum bacteria culturing. The method is based on the analysis of the cell disorientation in the Tailor-Couette cylindrical flow after its stoppage. The method of microphotographs at varous stages of cell growing was used as reference. The obtained data on the dynamics of the cell size during the lactobacilli cultivation testify to a possibility of the application of the suggested method to the description of cell culturing, its validation and optimization.
