A problem of the use of mechanical mixing devices to the intensification of mass exchange in bioreactors, in particular, rotor of the helicoid type has been discussed. The study of rotors of various type-size series showed that the gas absorption using the suggested rotors was not inferior to the standard mixers, whereas their power consumption was lower.

Key words:  bioreactor,  electric power,  helicoid,  mass transfer,  mixer,  mixing,  rotor.
