Russian National Collection of Industrial Microorganisms

Russian National Collection of Industrial Microorganisms (VKPM) is a state service collection that specializes in deposition, identification, certification, storing and distribution of non-pathogenic strains, which are used for research purposes and needs of biotechnological industry. There are about 17 000 industrially applicable (including bacteria, yeasts, mycelial fungi, phages) genetically modified strains of microorganisms at VKPM’ collection at present.

VKPM is a member of World Federation for Culture Collections (WFCC) and European Culture Collections’ Organization (ECCO).

Profile and services of Russian National Collection of Industrial Microorganisms:

  • VKPM is a depository within respective areas of specialization according to national guidelines;
  • VKPM acts as an International Authority under Budapest Treaty on mutual recognition of deposition for patent purposes;
  • Contract services in identification, preservation and distribution of microorganisms.
