A noninvasive method using a fluorescent dye and an optical light guide system for the assessment of vital cell number in a human skin-modeling cell culture under the conditions of microbioreactor has been suggested. It was shown that the system is efficient in growing of various skin models (derma, epidermis or their mixed cultures). The used dye permitted to perform noninvasive measurements during two weeks. The data on the number of vital cells obtained by direct counting and the suggested method were similar within the error range.
